Anne-Sophie Mutter（安蘇菲．慕達）被譽為當今最偉大的小提琴家之一。她演譯的 Bach – Sarabande、Beethoven Violin Concerto、Mozart、 Brahms Violin Concerto等著名曲目，真摯動人。 Mutter 很早成名， 13歲時，指揮家卡拉揚（ Herbert von Karajan）邀請她和柏林愛樂管弦樂團共同演奏，37年的演奏生涯中，幾乎演奏過所有著名的曲目。
這個週五及週六，首次跟香港管弦樂團演出，她選 Medelssohn的Violin Concerto及當代作曲家 Sebastian Currier為Mutter而作的Time Machines。
把當代的管弦樂曲目和那些耳熟能詳的經典樂曲，放在同一場個演奏，這非常重要的。像很多小提琴家一樣，Mutter二十歲很年青的時候第一次演奏Medelssohn的Violin Concert，更與指揮家Herbert von Karajan灌錄了這首小提琴協奏曲，可惜當年Herbert von Karajan指演奏有不足之處，此後廿多年，Mutter也沒有再奏此曲，直理數年前Kurt Masur八十大壽，Mutter才再次演奏Medelssohn的Violin Concert。

再次演奏，我仍感到Medelssohn樂曲中那團火，那種熱情；至於 Sebastian Currier的《Time Machines》，當然面對一首全新的樂曲，一種全新的音樂語言，有時候會令人沮喪， 但排練的過程越是崎嶇，演出越見精彩！Mutter對新晉作曲家像Sebastian Currier那輩是非常支持，因為古典音樂也要與時並進，也需要承傳。新進管弦樂作曲家是需要著名音樂家的幫助，讓觀眾能夠有機會聽到他們的作 品，Mutter認為這是必要的。她更有自己的基金會及室樂團，去培訓更多的管弦樂音樂家。

我不太喜歡往後看，只期待末來有更多機是首演當代作曲家的作品。

Anne-Sophie Mutter plays an excerpt from the 1st movement of Mendelssohn's violin concerto. This is part of her new (2009) Mendelssohn album. It is her first new interpretation of this work since recording it with Herbert von Karajan 25 years ago.
Mutter is a good violinist but she seemed to thrive only under the tutelage of Herbert von Karajan. After the conductor's death, she struggled to establish herself as a world-renowned soloist. The main reason is not her skill but the lack of a signature of play. Take this well-known Mendelssohn Violin Concerto, there are many outstanding performances both in her contemporary and more recent concerts.
One violinist of Mutter's contemporary, though her fame and career are not as 'successful' , is a memorable soloist (like an uncut diamond).
